Lithuania’s first sensory day center has just opened its doors in the capital

A major step forward for inclusive child development in Lithuania! On Skroblų Street in Vilnius, the country’s first sensory children’s day center has officially opened its doors. This innovative space is designed to support children with special needs and those facing emotional challenges — helping them learn self-regulation, build confidence, and strengthen their emotional well-being.

Funded with a €30,000 investment through the joint efforts of the Fenix Charity Fund and SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania, the center represents a meaningful commitment to children’s long-term growth and health.

Why Sensory Spaces Matter

Children process the world through their senses — especially those who struggle with anxiety, sensory overload, or behavioral challenges.

The new center offers:

  • Learning Zone — supporting focus and individual development
  • Active Movement & Sports Zone — releasing energy and balancing emotions
  • Relaxation Zone — restoring calm and emotional stability

Each area allows children to safely explore light, sound, and textures — strengthening resilience and social skills in a supportive environment. Up to 25 children can benefit at one time.

What the Leaders Say

“A sensory environment helps children calm down after stressful situations, concentrate better on daily activities, and recognize and express their feelings,” — Tomas Karpavičius, National Director, SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania.
“Every child has the right to feel safe and supported. Unfortunately, anxiety and emotional difficulties still limit the potential of many young people. With this project, we aim to provide the tools and environment they need to thrive,”— Agata Baj, CEO of Fenix Charity Fund

The project was made possible with support from: Walletto, BodLenses, Baldai1, Moki Veži and other responsible partners who helped transform the idea into reality. Their joint efforts are creating a place where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

This launch is more than a new space — it’s a long-term investment in children’s futures and a milestone in creating a more inclusive Vilnius.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in this meaningful initiative!
