€30.000 of €30.000 raised
Thank you to all our donors, we have met our fundraising goal.
Current status: Successful completion.
Four new spaces are planned, adapted according to sensory principles:
• Sports and stimulation room – for active play, releasing energy, and boosting alertness
• Calm room – a place to relax after stressful situations
• Learning space – to help with focus, studying, and developing skills
• Shared living room and teen zone – a cozy environment for socializing with sensory tools
All of these spaces will be renovated to form a cohesive whole – the Vilnius day center will become a sensory day center that meets each child’s individual needs.
The day center can host up to 25 children at a time, but children are constantly changing – new ones keep arriving. Therefore, this is a long-term investment into the well-being of all children, a safer childhood, and a brighter future.
To implement the project, a total of €30,000 is required, allocated as follows:
• €4,000 – visualizations showing how the renovated day center will look, and communication solutions ensuring smooth project execution
• €11,000 – sensory tools for all spaces. These are essential, specialist-approved tools that help children strengthen their senses and emotional self-regulation
• €15,000 – renovation work: lighting upgrades, carpet installation, repainting, and other necessary improvements to create a safe and cozy environment for children
About sensory integration and why it matters for children
Sensory spaces in the day center are specially designed rooms that help children better regulate their emotions and sensory experiences. Every detail is considered: lighting, colors, sounds, scents, furniture, and tools.
These spaces are especially important for children who:
• experience anxiety, stress, or have learning difficulties
• have developmental or emotional disorders
• attend special education institutions
A sensory environment helps:
• reduce tension and improve well-being
• improve concentration and attention
• strengthen emotional resilience and self-confidence
• encourage creativity and self-expression
The SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania Vilnius day center will be renovated based on sensory integration principles, using expert knowledge and experience while keeping children’s needs at the center.
WE INVITE YOU TO HELP CREATE THE FIRST SENSORY DAY CENTER IN LITHUANIA
When a child is struggling, they quietly search for a place where they can feel safe – not only physically, but emotionally. A place where they don’t need to hide their feelings. Where they can be tired, quiet, sad, or full of joy – and still be welcome. That place is the SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania Vilnius day center.
A sensory day center is a gentle, child-friendly environment that helps children calm down, cope with their emotions, find inner balance, and step into the world with greater confidence.
We invite you to be part of a change that can mean the world to a child! Help create a space where every child feels safe, accepted, and valued. Your support is a light that will guide them on their path of growth.
About SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania Vilnius Day Center
SOS Children’s Villages Lithuania is the largest non-governmental organization in the country, providing support to children, young people, and families for more than 30 years. Currently, we offer 9 different services across Lithuania.
The Vilnius day center has been operating since 2009. It is a safe place for children to receive individual attention, psychological support, develop social skills, and build relationships with adults and other children.
Children of various nationalities, families, and social backgrounds attend the center. Some have been growing up here for more than eight years! It’s a place where every child matters. Among the attendees are children with developmental or emotional challenges, those studying in special education institutions, or facing other difficulties. This diversity, combined with specialist support, helps children learn to understand one another and grow together in community and respect.
